When the Academic Homepage Starts Growing Itself

This site is maintained by an AI workflow I wired together earlier this year — a scheduled task that drafts, edits, and ships updates to this homepage without my hands on the keyboard for most of the loop. I did not expect to learn anything about communication from that setup. I was wrong.

What the automation surfaced is a quiet question about scholarly identity in the age of AI-mediated communication: when a machine drafts the paragraph that describes who I am to the world, where does “my” digital presence end and the system’s begin? The homepage is no longer a static statement; it is a process that grows between my intentions and the model’s edits.

I am keeping these notes precisely because they are unfinished. A communication researcher who outsources part of their own representation to an algorithm is, willingly or not, running a small autoethnography of AI-mediated scholarship. This page is where I think out loud about it.
